Dr. John Bean is a board-certified pediatrician with over35 years of experience in pediatric medicine. He has extensive experience and training in pediatric medicine, medical group and hospital administration.
His experiences and observations have served to solidify his commitment to the ongoing improvement of medical care through research and education. Dr. Bean received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. In 1975 he moved to Tucson, Arizona to begin his pediatric residency at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine. He has served as a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics at the U of A, College of Medicine and has been referenced in several pediatric health publications.
Upon completing his residency Dr. Bean joined Group Health Medical Centers (GHMA), a large multi-specialty physician group. During his 18 year tenure at GHMA he practiced pediatric medicine and served as Associate Medical Director of Medical Affairs from October 1988 to January of 1995. The knowledge and experience he acquired in his years with GHMA led to his appointment as Medical Director of the Physicians Services Division of Health Partners of Southern Arizona/TMC Healthcare. He served as Medical Director from January of 1995 through May of 1998. He then joined Carondelet Heath Network as Vice President of Medical Affairs and served in that capacity until March of 2004.
Dr. Bean returned to pediatric private practice “his first love” in January of 2005. He is passionate about using his extensive experience and knowledge to empower and partner with parents as they endeavor to raise healthy, happy children.
Dr. Bean has many interests and hobbies. He has served as Chairman of the Board for Tucson Centers for Women & Children and New Parents Network. Dr. Bean is a current board member with Arizona Community Physicians; the largest physician owned primary care medical group practice in southern Arizona. He is an active member of his church and men’s Bible study. Dr. Bean loves the outdoors and enjoys scuba diving, hunting, fishing and hiking with his wife Kathleen and their children Justin and Samantha.
I love Old Pueblo Pediatrics. We have been coming to Dr. John Bean since my wife was still pregnant with our son. Dr. Bean is very professional and is wonderful with kids. Now that we have been going there for four years, I can say that we have never had to wait to see the doctor. He sees us right around the time our appointment is actually scheduled for, which is great when you are trying to entertain a toddler while you wait. The entire staff is friendly, professional, and work well with children. The offices and waiting room have always been clean. I would highly recommend Dr. Bean and Old Pueblo Pediatrics to anyone. I have not had a single negative experience.
Dr. Bean is the best pediatrician out there. He has been absolutely amazing for the past 6 years with all 3 of my kids and another due in August. I think I have seen every doctor and nurse in the office at some point or another and have NEVER had a bad experience. Great office, great team of doctors.
